Frequently Asked Questions

How much extra does it cost to use an agent?

Absolutely nothing. We are 100% free to use no matter what type of coverage you are looking for. We do get a commission from the insurance company for helping you but it doesn't factor into your premium amount.

What is a subsidy?

A subsidy is financial assistance that the government provides to you if you qualify to help lower the cost of your health insurance premium. Subsidies can either go directly towards your monthly premium or you can get them back on your taxes depending on your preference.

Can I use an agent to apply for a subsidy through Healthcare.gov?

Yes and we would highly encourage it. We have been enrolling members in healthcare.gov since it opened in 2013. It is important to have someone there to help you navigate the through it and choose a plan that is going to fit your needs the best.

What if I miss open enrollment, can I still enroll?

No, not unless you have a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) such as losing group coverage, getting married, moving, having a baby, etc.

Do you help enroll in Medicaid, HMK or HMK Plus?

No, as a health insurance agency we are not affiliated with these government agencies and any questions or enrollments should be directed to them. We are not allowed to help enroll in these coverages outside of going through healthcare.gov to do so. We strongly suggest anyone looking to apply for these coverages contact these government agencies directly as the state rules that they have can be different than the federal marketplace rules that we are trained under.
